Falcon Jane's 'Legacy' Is Out Now

Released alongside new, self-directed "Oh My God" music video
Yeehaw.

You can finally hear the new album from Ontario, Canada legends Falcon Jane in full. We love Sara and Andrew. We love this album. And we think Legacy is a record that people are going to keep finding and falling in love with for years to come.

Back in the pandemic, Sara sent along some demos, said she was thinking about going full country. It was so honest, so natural, and so, so good—we were thrilled. Over time those heartbreaking and poignant demos became a fully fledged album, thanks to the amazing work of Sara, her partner Andrew McArthur, and the amazing work of producer José Contreras.

Now here we are, a few years later, and, well, they did the darn thing. These songs are immediately recognizable but truly unique. It’s such a beautiful balance. The new album reminds of Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Angel Olsen, and Jenny Lewis, which is to say, it echoes the greats, past and present, but with Falcon Jane’s own  flair.

High praise, sure, but roll the windows down, turn the radio up, and you'll hear it right away. Dive in.

And the band was kind enough to share a new music video for album standout "Oh My God" to celebrate the release.

Here's what Sara had to say about it:

I really wanted to make a glamorous cowgirl video: I think that’s how I pitched the idea to the crew. And we did our darnedest but when it came time to edit the video something felt off. Perhaps it’s the heartbreak that inspired the song shining through, or my general awkwardness on camera, but the footage didn’t feel fully celebratory. Even though I’m smiling and dancing, there’s something quite eerie and dark existing in the video that no amount of editing could erase. So I leaned into it and explored the darker side of the song and the footage. Uncovering the little moments of loneliness and sadness behind the sparkly dress and platform boots. Embracing the duality of dancing away the heartbreak; an upbeat pop song about feeling crushed.

We could go on and on, but we'll leave you with a set of lyrics that open the album and move us every single time:

Hold me my child

Like I’m the one that needs holding

Now if that aint just the damndest thing…
